Trudeau Is Being Judged for Senate Appointment

Published:

A Corrupt Appointment

In a dramatic turn of events that has stirred Canada’s political cauldron, the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs has ardently demanded the rescission of broadcaster Charles Adler’s recent Senate appointment by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

The controversy has many roots with some stemming from remarks Adler made 25 years ago, which many, including the AMC, deem “grossly offensive” to Indigenous communities.

And that is not even mentioning the huge controversy about the nature of his senate appointment and how many – including Poilievre and the conservatives – justifiably see it as Trudeau appointing yet another close ally to make things harder for the conservatives

With this contentious backdrop, the already political landscape in Ottawa seems to be tilting further into a realm of divisive rhetoric and conspiracy theories. The left is currently eating itself.

But who gains the upper hand in this showdown? Is it the embattled Prime Minister Trudeau, hoping to leverage this appointment in his favour, or is it the ever-unyielding Pierre Poilievre, who stands firm as an advocate for conservative values? Let’s peel back the layers and delve into this political whirlwind.

Trudeau Champions Problematic Allies

The heart of this melodramatic tale lies in the appointment Trudeau championed, introducing Adler alongside Saskatchewan health-care executive Tracy Muggli as the newest additions to the Senate.

Adler, a veteran broadcaster famed for his conservative stances once upon a time, has found himself in hot water over comments related to Indigenous communities dating back to 1999.

Imagine the collective eyebrow raise from the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs when “woke” brained Trudeau, known for his elaborate discourse on equality and reconciliation, put forward someone with a controversial history concerning Indigenous peoples.

The AMC wasted no time calling for Adler’s appointment to be rescinded, describing his past comments as “vulgar and racist.”

Much to delight the satirical observer, the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council, often viewed as a toothless regulatory body, had dismissed complaints against Adler’s remarks as “fair political commentary.” back in 2000, as they viewed calling Indigenous leaders “boneheads” and “intellectually moribund” apparently within the realm of acceptable public discourse.

No let us make something clear here, we don’t necessarily think Mr. Adler had any right to be persecuted for such language anyway, but it is notable and rather hilarious to point out how the liberals’ rules and checks that they put in place have continuously got them to stumble onto themselves and now they are fighting amongst themselves when they lack even the most basic of support.

Anyway getting back to the topic at hand here, One wonders if Trudeau’s appointment decision boiled down to sheer ignorance or an attempt to pacify political factions. He surely should have predicted how his fellow liberal colleagues and leftists would react, right?

Adler’s own words, tinged with sarcasm, only fueled the fire: “Theoretically, without seeing all these names he must be thinking of, if he says that there are people in Manitoba more qualified than yours truly to be in the Senate, he’s probably right.”

Of course, the real undercurrent running through this brazen move by Trudeau is the speculation and what the liberals will try to convince you as conspiracy theories.

Trudeau Can’t Run from the Facts

Some critics propose that Adler’s appointment might be a strategic ploy to create a smoke screen, diverting attention away from Trudeau’s other political failings. Could it be a deft manoeuvre to curry favour with right-leaning voters? Or perhaps it’s part of a grander, more complex scheme to vilify conservatives by enlisting someone who has at some point in time been one of Trudeau’s most vociferous critics?

In this brewing liberal storm, Pierre Poilievre, the stalwart of conservative resolve, stands unshaken.

Poilievre’s camp wasted no time in lambasting Adler’s appointment, branding it a partisan tactic to bolster Trudeau’s cause while deriding conservatives.

What might seem like political mud-slinging is actually rooted in legitimate concern—a sentiment echoed by many who recall Adler’s vehement denunciations of Conservative policies.

But Trudeau’s greatest soldiers in the CBC tried to paint all of this justified chaos in a more rosy light asking him first about the whole ordeal and why he is being unfairly targeted by Poilievre and the conservatives, only for his response to basically boil down to refusing the sentiment surrounding him being a Trudeau ally and vowing to go against everyone in the senate no matter their affiliation.

And then you can clearly see how pathetic the CBC anchor is trying to give him a leg up by mentioning the name of a single liberal personality that was mad at Trudeau for choosing Adler and Adler jumps right on that to prove how conservative he actually is.

The thing is, he really is not a conservative commentator, not anymore at least. And these are not our words and conclusions, these are his own goddamn words.

You don’t even have to dig deep to find yet another interview with the CBC of all places yet again where he talks about his appointment and how he is honoured that Trudeau chose him for the senate, then the talk devolves into attacks on the conservatives and ends with the most cliche admission ever. Adler thinks the conservatives left him, he didn’t leave the conservatives.

I don’t know about you guys, but he kind of sounds like a lying liberal who claims to be independent so that he doesn’t put his new master Trudeau in trouble.

Where is this Heading to?

While the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs continues to push for Adler’s ouster and Trudeau remains tight-lipped amidst the backlash, the Canadian Senate appears to be the stage for the next chapter in this unfolding drama.

As for the conservatives and their supporters, this incident brings to light more than just another instance of Trudeau’s supposed inadequacies.

It underscores a broader narrative about the type of leadership Canada needs—principled, accountable, and consistent.

Pierre Poilievre’s response not only solidifies his standing as a bastion of conservative integrity but also calls into question the very essence of Trudeau’s cronyism.
