Supreme Court Hands Trump Huge Win, Liberals Furious

Published:

In a stunning blow to partisan politics, the Supreme Court has unanimously reaffirmed the fundamental right of all legally qualified candidates to appear on ballots. Their decisive ruling slams the door on Democratic efforts to hijack the post-Civil War 14th Amendment to ban President Trump from the 2024 election. Despite liberal Justice’s objections, the Court has upheld Constitutional principles of fair and free elections.

This is a monumental victory for Donald Trump and his supporters, as radical liberals tried yet again to delegitimize him with an unconstitutional ballot ban. But the Constitution prevailed today, stopping authoritarian attempts to undermine citizens’ rights. With primaries looming, Americans can breathe a sigh of relief that they may freely choose Trump again.

Today is a great day for America and the Constitution. The Supreme Court has rightfully slapped down partisan Democrat attempts to undermine our democratic process by banning President Trump from the 2024 ballot. This is a huge victory for free and fair elections.

As expected, the Supreme Court unanimously agreed that states cannot abuse an outdated post- Civil War amendment to bar candidates like Trump from ballots. This affirms that all legally qualified candidates have a right to run, regardless of their politics.

The outcome ends efforts in Colorado, Illinois, Maine and elsewhere to kick Trump, the front-runner for his party’s nomination, off the ballot because of his attempts to undo his loss in 2020.

The justices sidestepped the politically fraught issue of insurrection in their opinions Monday, but some Trump critics pointed to the silence on that topic as a victory of sorts because the court failed to absolve him of responsibility for the Capitol riot.

The supreme court held that states may bar candidates from state office. “But States have no power under the Constitution to enforce Section 3 with respect to federal offices, especially the Presidency,” the court wrote.

The three liberal justices — Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson — aired their criticism of that finding in a separate concurring opinion.

“Today, the majority goes beyond the necessities of this case to limit how Section 3 can bar an oath-breaking insurrectionist from becoming President,” the trio wrote. “Although we agree that Colorado cannot enforce Section 3, we protest the majority’s effort to use this case to define the limits of federal enforcement of that provision.”

The justices agreed that Colorado’s decision needed to be reversed, as it would’ve created a “chaotic state-by-state patchwork at odds with our Nation’s federalism principle.”

“Yet the majority goes further … They decide novel constitutional questions to insulate this Court and petitioner from future controversy,” they wrote. “Although only an individual State’s action is at issue here, the majority opines on which federal actors can enforce Section 3, and how they must do so.”

“The majority announces that a disqualification for insurrection can occur only when Congress enacts a particular kind of legislation pursuant to Section 5 of the Fourteenth Amendment,” the three justices continued. “In doing so, the majority shuts the door on other potential means of federal enforcement. We cannot join an opinion that decides momentous and difficult issues unnecessarily, and we therefore concur only in the judgment.”

Further, they objected to the fact that the decision rules out judicial enforcement of Section 3 and places limitations on how Congress can act.

“By resolving these and other questions, the majority attempts to insulate all alleged insurrectionists from future challenges to their holding federal office,” they wrote.

Justice Amy Coney Barrett, a conservative appointed by Trump, similarly held the case didn’t require the court to “address the complicated question whether federal legislation is the exclusive vehicle through which Section 3 can be enforced.”

However, Barrett seemingly shot back at the liberal justices for the tone of their concurring opinion, saying now isn’t the time to amplify disagreements.

“The Court has settled a politically charged issue in the volatile season of a Presidential election. Particularly in this circumstance, writings on the Court should turn the national temperature down, not up,” she wrote. “For present purposes, our differences are far less important than our unanimity: All nine Justices agree on the outcome of this case. That is the message Americans should take home.”

Former president Trump rightly called this a “BIG WIN FOR AMERICA!” He has been the target of endless witch hunts by the radical left ever since he soundly defeated Hillary Clinton in 2016. They have desperately tried to delegitimize him at every turn, from pushing the Russia collusion hoax to impeaching him over a phone call. Banning him from ballots was just another underhanded scheme.

Former President Trump said in a speech after the court ruling that “I want to start by thanking the Supreme Court for its unanimous decision today. It was a very important decision, was very well crafted, and I think it will go a long way toward bringing our country together, which our country needs,” Trump said. “And they worked long, they worked hard, and frankly, they worked very quickly on something that will be spoken about 100 years from now and 200 years, If a president doesn’t have full immunity, you really don’t have a president because nobody that is serving in that office will have the courage to make, in many cases what would be the right decision, or it could be the wrong decision,” Trump said, adding that a president should not be prosecuted for doing something that is “for the good of the country and actually for the good of the world.”

He went on explaining that “A president shouldn’t have that on his mind, and he has to have a free and clear mind when he makes very big decisions or it’s going to be nothing more than a ceremonial post,” he explained. “You’ll be president. That’ll be a wonderful thing. And you won’t do anything because you don’t want to be hit by your opponent or hit by somebody else because who wants to leave office and go through what I’ve gone through?”

Trump went on to reflect on the legal challenges he is fighting during an election year, saying he is “being prosecuted by Biden,” saying every case is “in total coordination with the White House.”

The 2024 GOP frontrunner issued a message to Biden: “I will say that President Biden, number one, stop weaponization. Fight your fight yourself. Don’t use prosecutors and judges to go after your opponent to try and damage your opponent so you can win an election,” he said. “Our country is much bigger than that now.The other thing i want to say, is close the borders now, this is no sustainable for our country and cities. Our country is under siege, this is a violent thing you have done, people are dying in the trip up and the die going through the border.”

But the Constitution prevailed today. The Court confirmed that petty partisan politics cannot override the fundamental rights of citizens to choose their leaders. Americans will have the chance to elect Trump again if they so choose.

Of course, the three liberal justices complained even as they concurred. They wanted to leave the door open to ban Trump and other “insurrectionists” from office. This exposes their dangerous view that disfavored political opponents can be excluded if you just call them nasty names like “insurrectionist.”

Our wise Founders prohibited bills of attainder so that one party could not manipulate laws to punish enemies. The liberals believe the ends justify their authoritarian means, norms and rights be damned. But the Constitution stopped them cold today.

President Trump will continue fighting as the front runner to Make America Great Again. And the American people will have the right to vote for the candidate of their choice, despite the left’s best efforts to rig the system against him. This is a victory for all citizens devoted to free and fair elections and the hallowed democratic principles that make America the greatest nation on Earth. God bless President Trump and God bless the United States of America!
