Poilievre declared, “Right now Justin Trudeau is censoring those he disagrees with and trying to buy off the rest. That undermines confidence among Canadians in the news media.”

He called out Trudeau’s Local Journalism Initiative as a taxpayer-funded scheme to spread Liberal propaganda. Poilievre revealed, “It is terrible how local journalism has done under nine years of Trudeau. He’s tried to take it over and basically wants everyone to work for the government.”

This program spends millions subsidizing select media outlets to hire journalists who spout Trudeau’s narrative. Poilievre exposed how the Local Journalism Initiative threatens free speech, stating these government-funded journalists “regurgitate propaganda paid for by taxpayers.”

Meanwhile, independent outlets not beholden to Trudeau are being starved of resources. Poilievre explained the internet previously strengthened journalism by enabling more voices. But Trudeau wants to “shut down the competition” from non-state-sponsored media. 

A poll showed 55% of Canadians believe taxpayer-funded news outlets can’t report impartially on Trudeau’s liberal government. Younger Canadians especially recognize how subsidies compromise integrity. But Trudeau doesn’t care about neutrality – he wants obedient propagandists.

Trudeau’s Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland has shockingly claimed reporters can question her “without fear of retaliation.” Yet examples of Trudeau censoring and intimidating unfavorable journalists have piled up, exposing this shameless lie. 

Rebel News reporter David Menzies was brutally arrested by police earlier this year after he tried to ask Chrystia Freeland some sound questions.

His Heritage Minister Pascale St-Onge called Poilievre “thin-skinned” for condemning Trudeau’s media subsidies. But Poilievre is fighting to liberate journalists from being government scribes. The thin-skinned one is Trudeau, who can’t handle fair coverage.

After the Canadian Press parroted Trudeau’s talking points instead of covering the facts, Poilievre called them out as a “tax-funded mouthpiece to the Prime Minister’s Office.” The truth stings.

One Canadian Press journalist constantly interrupted Poilievre with loaded questions as he spoke with other reporters. Poilievre revealed the bias, stating “You are a tax-funded mouthpiece to the Prime Minister’s Office – that is reality.”

Poilievre also confronted CBC for being the public broadcaster’s “biggest client” after they demanded he defund their competitors. He replied, “We’re going to have a free press” when he’s Prime Minister instead of state-sponsored propaganda.

Canadians support Poilievre’s mission to return impartiality to journalism. The media bailouts and intimidation tactics expose Trudeau’s desperation to control narratives and quash dissenting voices.

No wonder 55% of Canadians in a poll said that reporters funded by the government can’t possibly cover Trudeau’s administration impartially. Canadians deserve the facts, not a Liberal fan club funded by their own tax dollars.
