Hiding the Truth

As if the new CBC bonus scandal couldn’t get any more apparent and worse for everyone involved, Trudeau and the liberal government are now running around trying to protect them again.

In theri valiant efforts to protect the deteriorating reputation of the CBC, Trudeau and the liberals refuse to inform us clearly if they actually approved any more bonuses.

The national broadcaster has become a house of mirrors, where facts get twisted and bent into funhouse distortions. Meanwhile, Canadians are left grasping for truth – was our hard-earned tax money used to reward failure at the CBC?

The plot thickens when the PMO plays hot potato with the media’s queries, volleying accountability between departments like a tennis match gone mad.

Will justice be served, or will Trudeau’s government continue dodging accountability?

CBC and the Bonuses Scandal

We all love a bonus every now and then for our hard work and our dedication to the workplace. I mean who here does not appreciate a monetary compensation for months of stress, focus, and utmost perfection being given and while you sacrifice your health day in and day out?

It is one of the ultimate forms of validations in whatever job position you currently hold, but notice how I never mentioned getting a yearly bonus even if the quality of your work is in the gutter and your productivity is next to nothing?

It would be shameless to accept a bonus when you know you have done a horrendous job and because of it; some of your underlings had to be fired for you to keep your cushy position.

If you think so then you are a good and honest Canadian and you definitely did not work at CBC.

The allure of a hefty bonus is tempting for anyone, but when it’s detached from performance—or worse, awarded amid layoffs—it sticks out like a sore thumb.

CBC is Being Protected by Trudeau

But Trudeau and the Liberal government are refusing to acknowledge the new round of bonuses or even inform any of us if they actually approved those new bonuses themselves- mind you, these are the same ones that happen to come after an even worse year for CBC full of declining viewership and waning popularity.

Trudeau’s ambiguous response concerning a bunch of alleged bonuses for Catherine Tait, the Chief Executive of CBC, and other higher up executives while job cuts loom over the national broadcaster like an unwelcome ghost seem to be in the worst of tastes if you ask me.

To add some much needed context, it’s conventional for the government to approve any bonus for Tait or any other executive based on recommendations by the CBC/Radio-Canada board of directors following a thorough performance review. Yet, when pressed for answers, the Liberals pointed to privacy laws and redirected queries between Canadian Heritage and the Privy Council Office, leaving Canadians in the lurch.

Yes, you heard that right – they’ve been ping-ponging the blame with the dexterity of a tennis pro, all while information from previous years on CBC bonuses was publicly available and talks of the new bonuses were talked about by every Canadian news outlet that is not the CBC. Talk about selective transparency.

It is not like this is a state funded media corporation that we Canadians are paying for with our hard earned tax money. The least of our requests is that we know when our goddamn tax money is spent and who exactly is it going to.

But to use our tax money like there is no tomorrow, and then go spend it on a failing and dying state funded propaganda machine for the liberals like the CBC just because Trudeau doesn’t get his feelings hurt is to insult each and every Canadian that has worked hard for this great country.

And the CBC is no different to controversy and constant slip ups to showcase to the world where their true allegiance lies when it comes to Canada’s political scene.

The Many Embarrassments of the CBC

One of their most embarrassing moments in the history of journalism is when a CBC clown – oh sorry I meant “journalist” – tried to corner Poilievre and shock him with his presence only to make a fool out of himself and make Poilievre look like an absolute gentleman.

So tell me, how can you see clips like that and then turn around and try to convince someone that CBC is a respected media outlet? The answer is obviously you can’t but a lot of liberals – and the literal government lately – have been trying to do this impossible task.

Hell, the CBC’s chief executive Catherine Tait tried her absolute hardest right when she was questioned during a committee hearing about the previous round of bonuses and whether or not they will be replicated once again with the downward trend of the company. And all we got at the time was more lies, obfuscation, and a disgusting display of ignorance and incompetence.

Perhaps Trudeau and his Liberal friends see it as some sort of modern Robin Hood act, except this time, they’re Robin Hood in reverse: steal from the common man to pay the rich executives instead.

Here’s a government priding itself on progressiveness and transparency, yet it stumbles when asked to provide straightforward answers.

Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives have shone a much-needed light on the inconsistencies and the opaqueness of the Liberal narrative.

And while the Trudeau administration remains tight-lipped about approving extravagant bonuses amidst austerity measures for others, Canadians must question the principles guiding their leadership.

Are taxpayers merely footnotes in the grand Liberal agenda? Will we ever see justice being delivered?
